Preamble and Statement of Purpose
There has long existed in Europe a rich tradition of martial arts, which are epitomized by the practice of swordsmanship. In recent years, many groups have independently arisen across Europe to research, practise, and ultimately teach these martial arts. It is the aim of this organization, the European Historical Fencing Alliance, to bring together these groups for the purposes of sharing information and research; to establish common safety regulations to enable all practitioners to fence together under agreed conditions; to assist such groups in disseminating their knowledge between member groups and to the general public; to organize conventions for these groups to come together at; and to establish recognizable standards in teaching and research.
